Bruce Mau's Massive Change

As part of an annual event a very generous annoymous donor pays for the MSE (McGill School of Environment) to host an influential speaker to come and give a public talk. This year it was a gentleman by the name of Bruce Mau. He is an innovative thinker in environmental design and has his own company, Bruce Mau Design. The talk itself did not bring forth any truly new radical theories or inventions that I had not heard of before, either in classes or discussions with friends and classmates. The real brillance of he project is the bringing together of all of these ideas. It is a massive project combining our views of the world via current photographic and engineering technologies, social and political structures, increased access to information, etc. Through the combination of these views we can then truly determine our place in the world, and from this, determine where we wish to go from there. As Bruce said during his talk, 'we know that if everyone in the world lived like a North American we would need three extra planets to sustain it. This is great! We know that that is not possible and thus gives us the opportunity to change such a trend.'
