Click on this title!!!

Ever wonder what new lows we at the Newport could hit? Well limits have been exceeded again. However, this time it's to test the limits of eBay and the human sense of compassion. Domers, Meghan and I have decided to auction off our toothbrushes on eBay. We want to know just how much someone would be willing to pay for such a random collection of items. The goal was to sell something that currently was NOT up for sale on eBay. Yes we searched a number of things... You might be surprised by what the population will put up for sale. Used toothbrushes was appallingly amiss. Click on the title above to view our auction and place a bid to own your own one of a kind, well traveled set of brushes!
Realistically, to use a word my dad taught me today.. it's complete sophistry.

Vieux Montreal

Two options were available to me today;
i. stay at home, do work and study;
ii. do a little sight seeing with Sarah and Jamie.
Really, what kind of a choice is that? So off to the Old Port we went. I hadn't been there since last year when Em and Matt came down so this was really exciting. Before we got too far we were bombarded by a group of people asking us to put silly hats on and pose for a picture, then there was the juggler/magician who paid us $2 US to stay and watch his act. Needless to say we stuck around, and enjoyed the show. Finally, strools along the waterfront, a quick peak at habitat, coffee in a shop along the cobblestone streets, and into Notre Dame. The night started with Thai, continued with drinking games at the apartment and was summed up by Brutopia and a stop at Sara's for 'za' on the way home. While Sarah and Jamie passed out in bed (only one more sleep till the hockey game), the roomies slowly filed back in from their night's and we were up late into the night.

The Trews

Although not that well known in Montreal, there was a pretty good turn out for The Trews. They played a rather entertaining show at Cafe Campus. Most importantly though, Sarah and Jamie came all the way from Hamilton! It made a good time even better. After the show we headed over to Vol and had a few drinks. Overall the night was entertaining and the sleeping situation in the apartment was cozy to say the least. Check out my photo album for pictures from the night and the rest of Sarah and Jamie's visit!

Bruce Mau's Massive Change

As part of an annual event a very generous annoymous donor pays for the MSE (McGill School of Environment) to host an influential speaker to come and give a public talk. This year it was a gentleman by the name of Bruce Mau. He is an innovative thinker in environmental design and has his own company, Bruce Mau Design. The talk itself did not bring forth any truly new radical theories or inventions that I had not heard of before, either in classes or discussions with friends and classmates. The real brillance of he project is the bringing together of all of these ideas. It is a massive project combining our views of the world via current photographic and engineering technologies, social and political structures, increased access to information, etc. Through the combination of these views we can then truly determine our place in the world, and from this, determine where we wish to go from there. As Bruce said during his talk, 'we know that if everyone in the world lived like a North American we would need three extra planets to sustain it. This is great! We know that that is not possible and thus gives us the opportunity to change such a trend.'

Really didn't do much, so not much to say. School, home, worked then chilled before bed with the roomies. Domers had had a hard day of trip planning and hanging out, so the chill hit him hard.

What is with this food thing?

Today it came time for me to pay up for one of my poker debts. Dinner for Dom. But when I cook, I really want to COOK. Even though it was completely made up I think everything turned out rather well... spinich, dandelion & walnut salad w/ raspberry vinigrette, followed by rice wraps stuffed with lightly fried onions, red peppers, portobello mushrooms & blue cheese, and finally an artichoke to finish it off. Thank you PA otherwise this meal could have cost me a whole lot more!
Sarah also just sent me a hilarious video! This guy makes me want to get up and bust a move like there's no tomorrow. If anything it's funny to keep in mind that this kid is army... I don't know why but that makes it all the funnier for me.
